10 years on...
February 16, 2012I can barely believe that 10 years has passed since I was embarking on a life changing experience that would slowly push me out into the world and into a lay-missionary life. At the time, I felt like my fellow student’s lives were changing right in front of my eyes and mine wasn’t.
“Do not despise these small beginnings for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin”
Zechariah 4:10
At the end of the school, as the staff team were presenting me with my Certificate, Zechariah 4:10 was quietly whispered in my ear by one of them. I will never forget that moment because, looking back, I see that it felt so natural and comfortable and God was slowly but surely making sure I was at ease with this unique way of life and planting small beginnings that 10 years later have taken root and there is fruit already being seen in the different nations that I have been to as and when God has called and provided.
I’d like to to encourage you to look back and see where and when God planted any idea, thought, prayer in your heart that you might have then thought others are changing and going for it and I’m not, and see how faithful God is and how he rejoices over those times where we drew closer to him and trusted in his word. Be thankful then because, “He who has called you is trustworthy and will carry it out” 1Thessalonians 5:24
So, I’m going to be brave now and thank a few people by name that were instrumental back in February 2002, in helping me begin the work that the Lord rejoices in! If I’ve forgotten a few people along the way I apologise. So from the very bottom of my heart, thank you, Mum & Dad & the rest of the family, Fr Paul, Paul & Barbara, Chris & Mercy, Louise & Nigel, Cristina, Cathy & Henry, Paula, Ania, Cassius & Marian & the rest of the DTS Staff team, lecturers and dearest fellow students!
Happy 10th DTS Anniversary to all my dearest DTS pals!
Till next time, Have a fruitful start to Lent, may God give us all the grace to reach Easter with a renewed understanding of His love for us.
